It was 2008, I was 16 years old and a sophomore at the met school in Newport. The school was only 2 years old at that point and we had just gotten a school lunch-man. Used to be that we would get food dropped off from another school and just go to the kitchen as needed for food. One day the lunch-man and I were chatting about making videos and he offered to connect me with his friend sway who made rap music videos. I went to a couple shoots with sway. I remember in particular being in his car. It was super heavily tinted even the windshield with this very blue tint.

sway and i didnt get along great. i think he was hoping id speak, and act more grateful. one if the few times i did speak it was to the director of photography. he was recommending me books to read about shooting. i thought this was silly, im doing the learning right now. so i told him i didnt read. sway came and talked to me later said, “you cant be going around telling people you dont read, hes trying to help you.”

It was at one of these shoots I met Rebecca, a former playboy model. I think she wanted sway to shoot and edit a silly video with her for a commercial contest. He didn’t seem that interested. We were at an auto shop of some kind I think. She was riding one of those little kids play cars down a ramp into the auto shop. It was pretty silly. I offered to help her edit and said that I shoot stuff too. I gave her my information, and soon I was spending my Tuesdays and Thursday’s out shooting with Rebecca!
